Thoughts & Progress: Bout of Books Day 2

Day 2 of the week long Bout of Books reathathon is now over so here is my progress so far.

On Tuesday I didn’t get as much of The Historian read as I expected but I did pick out an audiobook so I could keep making reading progress at work. That audiobook was 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne. It was one of the books on my bucket list for 2018. I never seem to get around to finishing it so I decided to use the readathon as motivation to finally read it. I am currently half way through and have only just met Captain Nemo. I was expecting him to be in the book more, the first half was mostly about chasing giant narwhals.

Narwhals aside, I am enjoying 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. I am curious about how the second half is going to go. I think it will mostly be Victorian submarine adventures which I can more than happily live with. You have no idea how much I love 19th science fiction.

Once I got home from work last night I came home, ate a burrito, played Overwatch for an hour and then took up my usual spot on the sofa to read. I kept getting distracted so I only managed a few pages of The Historian. Of course Mort took up her usual spot on the sofa to stare at me while I read because she is my furry shadow.

So here is a break down of my progress for Tuesday the 9th of January:

  • Read 11 pages of The Historian.
  • Read 197 pages of 20,000 Leauges Under the Sea.

Reading Plans for Today:

  • Finish 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. If work isn’t too crazy I should be able to listen to it non stop after lunch.
  • Get at least 10% of the way through The Historian. This is just getting silly by this point.

Are you taking part in Bout of Books this month? If so share your progress with me and tell me what you are reading.
